Joro Penchev leads the Technology, Governance & Economics portfolio of the Vision Sofia initiative aimed at building a shared project for the long-term city development across all consumers and producers of city life, be that citizens, administration, businesses, NGOs, academics, etc.
Joro is involved with a lot of civic activism and NGOs in various areas such as entrepreneurship, e-government, urban environment, education, cross-cultural communication, cultural and natural heritage preservation, and others. He’s a member of the Bulgarian Venture Capital Association’s team and has served at the office of the Economy advisor to the President of Bulgaria. He’s also on the management board of Obshtestvo.bg, a non-profit credited with the development of the national Open Data portal and various related legislation.
Joro is a professional software developer and project manager, and has also been teaching computer science for many years at the Sofia University. He is an alumni of the Tokyo based UEC, as well as the Bulgarian School of Politics and the Center for Economic Strategy and Competitiveness.
