Are there any rules I should follow?
Do I have to apply for a visa to attend the program?
Bulgaria is a member of the European Union (since 2007) and visa requirements differ depending on your country of origin. We suggest you contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Department of State in your country to learn which procedures you must follow. If you do need a visa, we will send you Guarantee Letter after you pay half of the fee.
What is the deadline to submit my application form?
The sooner you apply, the higher chances you have. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis (first come, first served) until all available spots at the Programme are filled. This is expected to happen earlier than the above-mentioned deadlines.
Deadline: Wednesday, 5 June 2019, GMT 23.59
When I will receive PGLF decision regarding my Application?
PGLF team will contact you within 14 days if your application is successful. Due to the large number of applications we receive, we may not be able to reply to every individual application. In case you do not receive a reply from us within 14 days, please consider your application rejected. You will get the decision and in case your participation will be approved, the Acceptance letter will be attached. You CAN NOT use the Acceptance letter as Visa invitation letter! But you can apply for additional financial support at your University, workplace or other international organizations.
Arrival / Departure
Do I need medical insurance?
If you are coming from EU member states, it is enough for you to have a European health insurance card. If you are coming from outside the EU, you must arrange medical insurance for yourself.
When should I arrive and depart?
The official PGLF Bulgaria program starts in the afternoon of August 11th, 2019 (Sunday) so you are expected to check-in between 2 and 4 PM that day. We will assist you in arranging transportation from your point of entry in Bulgaria to/from Blagoevgrad.
Official closing ceremony date and time is to be announced soon. Delegates are expected to depart on 18th of August (check out as usual by 12PM).
Will I receive a certificate upon the completion of the program?
Yes, each participant will receive a certificate of participation upon successful completion of the program.

We provide discounts to members of various partners organizations, therefore please mention in the application form how did you find out about the program. Limited additional scholarships may be available for top candidates.
Is it possible to get my fee refunded in case I cannot join the program?
All transaction costs for refunds have to be covered by applicants and will be automatically deducted.
50% of your tuition fee will be refunded if you cancel by 1st of August.
80% of your tuition fee will be refunded in case of:
- illness (you must provide a medical report)

No other reasons for reimbursement will be accepted.
How can I make the payment?
The payment is made by PayPal or bank transfer. All the information about payment you will get in the e-mail we will send you as confirmation of your application. You should cover all the extra expenses (such as bank transfer fee) by yourself. When will I have to pay the tuition fee?
The tuition fee must be paid within 3 weeks of receiving your acceptance letter. Your place will be only reserved for you if we did receive the tuition fee until this deadline. Location & Accomodation
I have some additional requirements
In case you need any special assistance (wheelchair, sign language, allergies, diets, etc.), please let us know in advance by email. We will do our best to accommodate these.
Where will I be staying?
Your PGLF Bulgaria fees include accommodation within the American University in Bulgaria campus where the Programme will take place between 11th of August and 18th of August. If you decide to stay longer in Blagoevgrad or another place in Bulgaria, we will help you arrange the details, just shoot us an email. The rooms in the campus would be for two (2) or three (3) people. You will be placed in a room with another PGLF participant of the same gender.
Should I prepare for the programme?
There are no specific prerequisites for the programme. You should come with an open mind, ready to learn and experience. Since we plan to organize a country-presentation evening, we would ask all participants to prepare something to present their country – be it a typical song or dance, traditional food or drinks, national tokens/souvenirs or anything else you would like to share with the rest of the participants.
When will I get my timetable?
Typically, you will have lectures in the morning and afternoon with lunch and breaks in between. Each day there will also be cultural and leisure activities organized so you can enjoy your time in Blagoevgrad to the fullest. You will be given your timetable at least two weeks before the program starts and a printed version on the first day of the program.
